Buy Coins
We
buy coins, and we do it more securely and honestly than any mail-in offer you will find. There is always a market for collectible and investment grade coins. Dealers such as we participate in the worldwide coin buying and selling industry. When you have decided to become a seller, bring your coins to our Tampa Bay store.
While many coins are in the hands of collectors, they can also be forgotten or undiscovered wealth. They may be sitting around in a box or may have been pushed back to rear of a drawer. You may forget where you got them. Many old coins are worth good money and they steadily increase in value every year, even when they are sitting and gathering dust or they are lost among the lint. There is almost always money to be made, and we buy coins from collectors, investors and from folks looking to raise quick cash.
Bring in your gold and silver coins. The gold market is booming, and any silver coinage from a decade ago or older can bring good money as well these days. It’s not about the face value (for instance, a $1 coin). It’s about the period they were in circulation, and the purity of the precious metal from which they were struck.
We buy coins that are not made of gold or silver – for instance a Buffalo nickel. While it is worth far more than the face value of five cents, you would need a few to add up to real money. Smaller denominations of rare coins are less attractive for raising cash than for expanding or adapting a coin collection.
The list of precious metal coins that are always welcome among dealers who buy coins is fairly long. Here are some examples:
Gold coins
- American Eagle
- Canadian Maple Leaf
- Austrian Philharmonic
- American Buffalo 24-karat
- Australian Kangaroo
- China Panda
- Year of the Rabbit
- Year of the Tiger Bullion Coins
- Pre-civil war examples
- Pre-1933 coins
Silver coins
- American Eagle
- 90 % Silver coins
- 40% Silver coins
- Early dollars
- Morgan silver dollars
- Silver peace dollars
- Early half dollars
- Canadian Maple Leafs
- Chinese Pandas
- Mexican Libertads
Of all of the precious metal items you may want to sell, using a mail-in vendor who will buy coins makes little sense. If you mail it in, you take your chances. But there is no risk when you bring your items to our store to evaluate. For one thing, we give you a face to face offer and an explanation of how we came to that determination. For another thing, we have security guards in our store for your safety and the protection of your valuables.
Too many people get ripped off by Johnny come lately coin buyers who don’t know enough about collector value; or by late night TV and internet schemes that tend to prey on people who need fast cash. They buy coins low and then turn around and sell at big profit.
We have been appraising and buying and selling valuables for 30 years in the Bay area. In fact, the owner is the child of collectors, so it is “in his blood”.
Don’t trust TV or internet schemes to buy coins from you.
