People frequently sell coins when liquidating an estate. A coin collection can be bequeathed by a deceased relative. It is not uncommon for someone to go through a box of belongings from a relative who has passed and to find a small stash of coins. Bring them to our Tampa Bay store for appraisal. If there is value, we offer cash. Rare coin values have been known to rise 25% in one year!

When you sell coins, you will find that they are worth their weight in gold (or silver) literally. The value of a coin is set on the basis of the precious metal content. Fortunately for sellers, most are pure. For instance, gold coins usually contain 99% pure gold; but silver coins can be only 40% precious metal. Several factors will affect the price of your coins, such as how many were minted to begin with. The history of a coin can raise its value, as can the country that minted it and the date stamped on it. When you need cash you can sell coins readily because there is always a collectors market. Bring them in to our store. You will receive a free verbal estimate and a written appraisal for a fee.

Even some recently minted coins take leaps in value. Some collectors have held certain examples for only two years and seen a profit when they sell coins. You need a face-to-face expert to let you know what your stash is worth. Some modern coins were minted to appear historic, but they may be worth the value of the metal alone.

It can be fun to look at the upper end of the market. Here are a few examples according to Forbes Magazine. The 1804 Silver Dollar is worth more than $10 million dollars if it is in good condition. A 1933 Double Eagle lists at $8.5 million, followed by the 1913 Liberty Nickel at $5.9 million. An 1861 Double Eagle can bring 4.4 million. Only two are known to exist. In fact, all of these are limited to barely a handful of examples on earth.

You don’t need to have a rare coin. Many people have buried treasures they can reclaim when they sell coins to us. People often want to know if marks or scratches affect the value and the answer is “almost never”. Resale value depends on the metal, weight and purity.

When you sell coins to us you can trust our 30 years of experience appraising valuables.
