Your offer depends upon how much scrap gold there is in the item and the purity. For example Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins are made of gold only. The Liberty $1, $2.5, $5, $10 and $20 coins have 90% gold content. Something like an 18 carat or 22 carat ring would be worth proportionately less than a 24 carat sample because there is less gold in the ring.
